Where To Fish
Follow the A143 from Diss to Harleston and take the road that goes into Brockdish village. Shortly after the 30mph speed limit you come to some council houses on your left hand side and they indicate the entry on your right to the sewage works. Please park on the edge of the field to the right of the sewage works. If you park on the road leading to the sewage work your car could be towed away, so be warned!! If you walk straight down to the river you come to it by peg 9 and the pegs run down into the woods to your left. To your right the pegs increase in number right up to peg 36. Which is right up near peg 1 at Monks Hall. The lower pegs are always worth a fish or two with big tench on the cards, and some good big roach if you fish right into dusk. Peg 12 once throw up a huge bag of bream for Gordon Pearce when he weighed in 97lb in a match. Heading upstream, pegs 20/21 are good roach pegs and they gave up a 7lb bream also in a match. The pike here are of a good size and anything over 15lb is a specimen for the size of water. And yes there are the odd one that’s a lot bigger. The depths vary from some deep holes of over 12 foot to shallows of a few feet deep, depending which bank you fish. Again taking a weed rake can be a good idea and you can catch within 30 minutes of raking through.
