Club Aims And Rules

It is the aim of Diss and District Angling Club to help maintain and protect the sport of angling within the local community, also to promote good fellowship amongst its members. To provide competitions, social events, support sponsored charities and provide consideration and facilities for disabled anglers.

 

It shall be the duty of each angler to treat fish with respect in returning it to the water, unhooking and care in handling. NO FISH SHALL BE LAID UPON UNPROTECTED GROUND! Weighing of fish shall only take place in a supported sling or suitable receptacle. Bend rigs, gaffs and the use of live fish for bait may result in the expulsion of a guilty member.

Anglers are impounded to clear the place at which they fish of all litter in the immediate area before commencing and finishing fishing. Such a failure to do so may result in expulsion as will failure to close gates and interference with any property of a land owner.

 

No fish of any species may be transported to another venue without the authority of the committee and or Bailiff

 

All member will comply with accepted access points as contained in the "Our waters" and "the way to the waters."

 

No member shall be accompanied by a dog whilst fishing unless a written application that has been approved by the Committee.

 

Anglers are NOT PERMITTED to fish over the rails at the Mere’s mouth at any time whatsoever. They are also not permitted to cast into the area marked between the two red bands painted onto the concrete and 30ft out from the bank. Any person found contravening this rule shall have their card confiscated until the next Committee meeting when they shall appear and be able to rejoin the club for twice the relevant annual membership fee. Any repeat offence shall double the previous penalty.

 

No night fishing is allowed on club waters, apart from Diss Mere, with the written permission of the Committee. No junior member shall be permitted to fish any club water during the hours of darkness. This is for your safety!!

NO CAMPFIRES OR CAMPS are allowed on any club water, but simple bivvies may be used at Diss Mere.
